How we keep this site usable with a keyboard, a screen reader, or any other assistive technology — and how to tell us when we have missed something.
Our commitment
We want every Suffolk County resident to be able to read this site and request service without friction. We build toward the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and review the site as we add pages.
What we have done
The site uses semantic headings and landmarks, a skip-to-content link, visible keyboard focus, descriptive alternative text on images, form labels tied to their inputs, and color combinations chosen to hold contrast against our dark palette.
Known limits
Some third-party content, such as embedded maps or social widgets, is outside our direct control. Where an equivalent exists we provide it in plain text — for example, our full address, phone number and hours are always available as readable text.
Reporting a barrier
If any part of this site prevents you from getting the information or service you need, tell us and we will fix it and get you the information another way in the meantime. Phone is the fastest route.
