German and American roach elimination

Cockroach Control in Suffolk County, NY

Cockroaches spread fast once they get established in a kitchen or bathroom, and seeing one during the day usually means there's a much larger population hiding behind the scenes. We treat the source of the infestation, not just the roaches you can see.

How We Treat Cockroaches

  1. 01

    Inspect

We identify which species is present, since German roaches live and breed indoors near kitchens and bathrooms while American roaches typically come in from outside through drains, sewer connections, or foundation gaps. We check behind appliances, under sinks, and inside cabinets for the harborage areas where the bulk of the population is hiding.

  2. 02

    Plan

The plan is built around the species found — German roach infestations get an aggressive indoor gel-baiting and growth-regulator program, while American roach issues get more exterior and drain-focused treatment. We also flag moisture sources and clutter that are helping the population thrive, since roaches need both food and water access to sustain a colony.

  3. 03

    Treat

We apply professional gel baits directly into cracks, crevices, and harborage points, along with an insect growth regulator that disrupts reproduction so the population can't rebuild as fast as it's being knocked down. For American roaches we also treat exterior entry points, drains, and foundation gaps to cut off the source coming in from outside.

  4. 04

    Prevent

Roach populations often need more than one visit to fully collapse because of how many eggs can already be in the environment, so we schedule a follow-up to reassess and reapply bait where activity continues. Ongoing residential or commercial service then keeps a fresh barrier in place to catch any new roaches trying to move in.

[ 03 ] Suffolk County

Why It Happens Here

German roaches thrive in the tighter, older housing stock common throughout Suffolk County's established neighborhoods and multi-unit buildings, where shared walls and plumbing chases give them easy movement between units. American roaches, on the other hand, are a much bigger issue near the coast — the higher humidity and abundance of storm drains, sewer connections, and damp crawlspaces along the shoreline give them a steady path from outside into basements and garages. Knowing which one you're dealing with changes the entire treatment approach, which is why identification always comes first.

Restaurants and food-service businesses across the county face particular roach pressure because of the combination of food, warmth, and moisture that commercial kitchens naturally provide. We see this most in older downtown commercial strips where buildings share walls and plumbing lines with neighboring units, meaning a roach problem in one unit can spread to the next if it isn't addressed with both indoor baiting and an exterior seal against entry from shared spaces.

[ 04 ] Before We Arrive

How To Prepare

Nothing complicated. These few things let the technician spend the visit treating instead of moving furniture.

  • Clear access to basements, crawlspaces, utility rooms and the exterior foundation line.
  • Put pets in a separate room or outside for the duration of the visit.
  • Have someone available who can point out where the activity has been seen.
  • Clear items out from under sinks and inside lower cabinets so bait can be placed directly into cracks and along cabinet backs.
  • Fix any dripping faucets or slow drains ahead of treatment, since standing moisture works against the baiting program.

Gel baits and growth regulators take time to work through a population, especially with German roaches, since existing egg cases will still hatch over the following weeks even after adult roaches are eliminated. It's normal to see some activity decline gradually rather than stop immediately, and the follow-up visit is built into the plan specifically to catch that second wave.
